How to Feel Good about Paying Taxes when the System is Fucked
Whether or not your taxes are due soon or you meet them monthly or quarterly or in a different season, I’m being called to offer you this tool.
Supporting the system with shitty folks at the helm can feel… ugly. To say the least. It might spark strong resistance inside of you or straight up rage.
You might owe money or get a refund and just touching the process might feel super uncomfortable.
So here’s a small but sacred ritual to help you amplify more of what you want to see in the world while doing what you have to do.
(And on that note let me affirm I recommend business owners hire an accountant to do their taxes - here in the US that tax prep fee should be a deduction!)
The Ritual:
Sit still, focusing on your breathe. Let your body settle. You might need to put your hands on your body to come into focus. You could place your dominant hand on your low belly and your non-dominant hand on your upper chest. Letting your body settle might take a minute. Experiment with ten breaths with your hands in this position.
Now in your mind imagine your tax paperwork (and your money if you owe taxes) sliding into the system, like a luminescent object amongst the gears. The system is moving, it’s big. Your paperwork moves inside the system and as it is processed it changes what it touches.
Just because you’ve set the intention to share from this energy it offers joy, it prompts a simple smile, it becomes a covert contagion of hope and action, it unlocks the heart of those around it, it anchors the new paradigm in those who touch it, it creates a stable, steady wave of change.
You can repeat these words out loud over your paperwork before you submit it. Or you can say it (over a candle if you like) and imagine infusing your energy into what you have sent already.
“Let this subtly shift the system towards more joy, more love, more balance, and more sacred responsibility.”
This is simple. But significant and deeply sacred.
